by Andrew Harlan

The 9th Annual Viva Tampa Hispanic Heritage Festival, presented by GTE, is set to celebrate Hispanic culture and community with a family-friendly weekend at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park (600 N Ashley Dr) in downtown Tampa. Taking place on February 1-2, the festival promises two full days of live music and mouthwatering cuisine. Tickets are available online.

Festival-goers can enjoy a variety of activities, including a Kids Zone featuring interactive games hosted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rays, Rowdies, and Tarpons. For the first time, a massive 60-foot Ferris wheel will offer stunning views of downtown Tampa.

The culinary scene will shine with Latin food and curated cocktails from celebrity chefs and local Tampa tastemakers. The event will also showcase top-tier live performances. On Saturday, February 1, the stage will come alive with Colombian band Flagrant Drvms, Mexican group Mijangos, NYC’s Polyrhythm and Hector Romero, Venezuelan artist Riich Music, and Miami’s Mr. Pauer. The night will culminate with an electrifying set by Brazilian superstar Bhaskar, supported by DJ Nati Pitch.

On Sunday, February 2, the festival will make history with the first-ever Tampa performance by international merengue sensation Oro Solido. They will be joined by Alex Sensation, the #1 DJ on Spanish radio, DJ Neko from El Zol 97.1, and salsa legend George Lamond.
