The College Football Playoff National Championship game may come to Tampa in 2029

by Andrew Harlan

Another day, another major event is rumored to be coming to Tampa. Last week, it was confirmed that the NHL Stadium Series would take over Raymond James Stadium in February 2026 (let’s go, Bolts). Reports are circulating that the College National Championship Football Game is taking over Raymond James Stadium in 2029.

We’re a little biased, but the Buc’s pirate ship makes every event 10 times better. We don’t blame event organizers for seeking out our stadium so often.

We first saw the news on SI.com in a story by Caleb Skinner. According to Brett McMurphy of the Action Network, Tampa and Raymond James Stadium will host the 2029 College Football Playoff title game instead of Dallas and AT&T Stadium due to scheduling conflicts.

Let’s hope this becomes official soon. Maybe our own USF Bulls could scale the college ranks and take home the national title in their home city (and on their home field, technically).
