Tampa International Airport (TPA) is bracing for another bustling Thanksgiving travel season, with nearly 80,000 passengers expected to pass through its terminals daily between November 21 and December 2. This 13-day holiday period could rival last year’s record-breaking Thanksgiving, making it one of the airport’s busiest times of the year.

The peak travel day is anticipated on Sunday, November 24, as an estimated 85,724 passengers prepare to take flight just days before Thanksgiving. TPA encourages travelers to plan ahead, especially with higher-than-normal passenger volumes.

Parking and ride-share updates at Tampa’s airport

Parking demand will soar alongside the passenger surge, and some airport garages may reach capacity. To avoid last-minute hassles, travelers should reserve parking in advance through TPA’s online booking system. Repairs to the roof of the Short Term Parking Garage, damaged during Hurricane Milton, are expected to wrap up this week, ensuring additional space for holiday travelers.

For those using ride-share services like Uber and Lyft, TPA recommends utilizing the Blue Express Curbsides. This convenient option helps reduce congestion at the arrivals curb and ensures smoother pick-ups during peak hours.

Construction projects may impact wait times

Ongoing construction to expand security checkpoints at Airsides A and E, coupled with a shuttle replacement program, could lead to longer lines at the airport. Travelers are urged to arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international departures to ensure a smooth journey.
