More green space in Hillsborough County, we love to see it. Branchton Park, located at 15504 Morris Bridge Rd. in Thonotosassa, has officially expanded to 43 acres, bringing a “wealth of new recreational options to the area,” according to a press release from the county government. The park, now more accessible to the 45,000 residents living within a 10-minute drive, is also expected to attract visitors from a much broader region.

The newly revamped park features state-of-the-art amenities designed to appeal to a wide range of interests. Highlights include a large, accessible playground for children of all abilities, a splash pad for cooling off, and six picnic shelters for family gatherings. Active visitors can enjoy pickleball courts and walking trails, while pet owners can take advantage of the new dog park. Multiple public art installations make this new expanded space feel like an open-air art gallery.

The new park will serve more than 45,000 residents in the area

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on January 23, celebrated the completion of the park’s $10 million renovation project. The event highlighted new features such as an accessible playground, splash pad, picnic pavilions, improved lighting, and a freshly paved parking lot.

The park is now open daily from sunrise to sunset, offering ample recreation opportunities. While the major updates are complete, officials state that additional park enhancements will be finished in the coming weeks.

Branchton Park’s expansion is a significant boost for the local community, providing new spaces for outdoor activity, relaxation, and socializing. This joins MacDill 48 Park as a gorgeous new public space for the entire county to enjoy.
